Really Under construction
Genealogy
Unless one could trace one's ancestors to one of either Chinese or European lineage, one usually finds it hard to pindown on one's origin to any degree of accuracy especially if one comes from a pure line of the dusunic tribe such as this writer does. In such a situation, one has to be satisfied with the say-so of the elderly who unfortunately are becoming   rare  with  time. Furthermore, in  my  case  at least, some of those I managed to lay hands on were quite  'amnesiac'  and so a lot of crosschecking had to  be done.
Before becoming one myself, let me   just   record  my gratitude  to  several key people who have been of much  help towards the gatherng  of the data. Especially instrumental in mooting this venture was Gundohing Moilis Masampung. It was through his urging that this genealogy project started. He proved to be quite  gifted with   sharp memory for names of  great-great grand uncles and their relationships with those who are cur- rent. During the course of my research, he showed me a 555- notebook with a long-hand record, written in the early 60s, of those he quoted . I am also grateful to Zandi Jelina Tiwol, his daughter-in-Law who also proved to be very gifted with  very sharp memory for  names of members of several families whom she had heard of by word of mouth. Other elders whom I took time to interview were my own daddy, Kutai Sintik Dagul, who took the easy way out of categorizing every-one he knew as a relative, Gundohing John Jambun, Zandi K.K. Jouyis Manjal, the youngest in my mom's family whom my mom quite rightly described as a walking encyclo- pedia of family records and Zandi Amoi Chin  of  Kg. Kobusak,  Nosoob who  gave  me  some feedback on the notes submitted  by Charles Masuil also of  Kg. Nosoob to whom my gratitude  is also due.

The sources of my inform- ation are by no means limited to the above. Several, too many to name here have in fact vo-
lunteered bits and pieces of information in the areas that they were quite familiar with during the course of my discussion which spanned a period of over three years The result is a family index which I think is at least 90% accurate with the 10% comp-
rising mainly of those who were not named in the index but are otherwise traceable through those who are listed.

I hold an electronic record of the complete 'Family Index". Anyone who desires a copy may contact me directly or e-mail me at louvai-soluoi
