Hi There ;-)

Nothing much, except I was born in a non-Catholic family some 52 years ago in Kota Kinabalu. That's somewhere in the Borneo island - the land where animism was rampant and where heads were much on demand for the hunting. Of course by the time I was born, the head-hunting pastime was long gone. The 'eating and drinking' of the Body and Blood ( of Christ, that is), was then the in-thing; and so when I was 12, I joined the craze in a special initiation called  Baptism. My parents, while cautious in the beginning, saw that it was good and joined me in my  'crave' after 35 years of drooling.Except for one sibling who couldn't quite get a hang on the idea, all of us are now called Catholics of the Roman persuasion, or as the natives call it - RC. So are members of my immediate family - my wife and 8 children.

So what do I do apart from being a practicing RC? Practicing?!!! Actually I was out of practice for more than a decade until I got a 'tapping' - an invitation of sort, to re-join the rite. That's 2 years ago, and man, how thankful I am for that 'tap' especially when life is about 5.00 o'clock.

Coming back to the question of what I do: nothing much, actually. What much can a retired man do, anyway, apart from looking at the gyration of the stock market graphics and fiddling around with the pc? I do meet people who seem intent in their pursuit for some words of wisdom. You see, I was a member of the Sabah State Administration for more than a decade and a half. It's a public office, where you run for election to qualify. And when you are retired, people, kind of, take it that you have those experience and wisdom that  came with retirement....(wink).

Just to regress, during my decade or so of wandering in the spiritual desert, and being caught up with the stark awareness of a very real possibility of a  very bleak hereafter, given my situation, it got me to think real hard regarding my relationship with God. My short note, "As I ponder" was an attempt to "seek" aloud in that direction. I prayed, and am still praying for a closer walk with God. I pray that what little could be accomplished in the twilight of my life, could glorify God in some little way.  And you know what? I have yet more time than what that other thief, you know the one who was hung beside Jesus? had.  All we need to do is to believe in Christ, which I do, repent, which I did, be baptized, which I was and "...grow in holiness as our Father in Heaven is holy". Still feel soooOO sinful? Christ died for exactly those kinds of sinfulness. And just to make you feel
very sure, the Catholic Church has seven Sacraments to santify us into holiness. Apart from all that, we can also receive sanctifying grace by receiving Holy Communion daily. You knew that all along, didn't you?  + By  the way, incase you might have thought that what was left of your life was too short to to bag any discernable amount of grace for your hereafter, don't be discouraged; you trust in God  would also count. Remember the 'thief'?

Go ye in peace...believe in Christ and go claim your right to be a child of God.
